Year

Before the modernization of reactive power compensation, a contactor-based (automatic) compensation system was used at the facility, which responded inefficiently to dynamic load changes. The system frequently experienced delays in switching steps on or off, resulting in inadequate compensation and increased electricity consumption. In addition, the first compensation step was insufficiently effective under rapid load fluctuations.

Problem:

The existing contactor-based system was not suitable for dynamic loads – due to slow response and limited accuracy, optimal results were not achieved. The system’s inefficiency was reflected in electricity bills, particularly in the reactive power component.

Solution

Considering the situation, it was decided to modernize the compensation system by integrating a Static Var Generator (SVG), capable of responding quickly and accurately to sudden load changes.

Implemented changes:

– The first contactor-based compensation steps were removed.

– A 100 kVAr Static Var Generator (SVG) was integrated.
