Before the modernization of reactive power compensation equipment at the facility, three capacitor banks were in operation. The existing system did not provide the required speed and accuracy for the client.
Problem
The existing contactor-based reactive power compensation system did not meet the client’s requirements – it operated too slowly and lacked accuracy.
Solution
To ensure the most economical and beneficial outcome for the client, it was decided not to dismantle the existing cabinets but to retain the contactor-based reactive power compensation panels, integrating Active VAR generators into them, thereby converting the system into a hybrid solution. After the upgrade, three hybrid compensation panels were installed, operating quickly, reliably, and efficiently.
